Wrecked
New boy Ryan (Forth Richards) learns the tricks of the trade when he embarks on a career as an actor. From applying online, to going to auditions,
he finds it all pretty much exciting, even though the place he is auditioning in is a complete mess. But everyone has to start somewhere and he
starts at film school. He says the script as best he can, delivering the lines straight from his heart, and comments he hasn't acted before. That
doesn't stop his tutor though, as he thinks he can be moulded into a decent enough actor if he's willing to try.
Wrecked is set up like a raw documentary of young people's lives and how they get on with each other at university. They have plenty to tell
and they use all kinds of different media to tell them using camcorder, phone and laptop. The stories are average and about ordinary folk who just
want to try and make a difference in their own lives.
After the softcore porn excerpt where Ryan watches another friend bare himself over his laptop it's back to the other friends at college trying to
get to grips with their script, but it's not long before Ryan has an unwelcome visitor, Daniel (Benji Crisnis), his junkie ex-boyfriend who is set
to spoil everything when he wants to come back into his life. The fool that he is, Ryan accepts him and one of the scenes shows them getting down
to sex right away. After that, he sets some house rules that he should stop it with the drugs, but as soon as he is out of Ryan's way he's right
back on the hard stuff.
Ryan and Daniel are the most useless couple ever imagined. They are like chalk and cheese really and Ryan's clean-living does not go well with Daniel's
illicit drug using and loose ways with other guys. He obviously can't be trusted and, by the end of this movie, others will pretty much see why.
Wrecked is not the best gay movie ever made, but it is interestingly shot and has a loose feel about it that might attract those who like
the more narrative approach to gay movies.
